My
introduction
to Filk was
at a WiGGle,
the monthly
gathering of
the UK
filk-fen, on
this
occasion
back in June
1989, it was
at 'At
the Sign of
the Dragon'
in East
Sheen.
I met many
of the top
people in
British
filkdom,
Rafe Culpin, Mike
Whittaker,
Phil Alcock,
Gytha North,
Lawrence
Dean,
Valerie
Housden and Zander
Nyrond.
However,
my first realfilk was co-written with my friend D.J.
Bass after a Fire alarm at
Rec-Con, the August
Trek con of 1989. The alarm went off at
midnight
Saturday; by
1 a.m.
Sunday, we had written the song (We did 'borrow' the
tune of course). Since then I have managed to attend
a number of Filk Conventions (See Conventions), my second
filk was
done at
Obliter8 in 1996, as was my
third. Since then I have
done a couple more, but I am still working on five
lyrics. My main problem is writing the
music, which
I am still
not able to
do.
