Photography

I first got into 'proper' photography in 1980, when I got my first TTL camera (a Praktica LTL) which sadly died in 1981 when it took a dip in a brook near to Meldon Dam in Devon.

(I was trying to get a better view of the Meldon Viaduct, which is where the former PD&SWJ (Southern Railway) line from Exeter to Plymouth now terminates) I then obtained a Praktica MTL 3, which lasted until 1985. By then I had an MTL (You may notice a pattern about now) This was joined in 1988 by an MTL 5. Both of these cameras were stolen in September 1990, so I brought myself a replacement, another LTL, which sadly died of shutter failure at the end of last year. Fortunately, a friend had given me a Vivitar E, which is currently my only 35mm camera.

On the 2¼" Square front, I have an old, viewfinder Agifold and a Zeiss Icoflex - Twin Lens Reflex, but I don't use them very often as the cost of the films is too prohibitive. My favorite subjects for photography are birds (the feathered variety), railways, friends, flowers, drama and medieval re-enactment.

St Briavels being the Youth Hostel that the Far Isles Medieval Society use for their Foundation and Independence Revel (A weekend event in October). At the time I was a member of the Far Isles, my persona being Thora, the daughter of a Viking father and a Saxon mother. The photographs of me were taken by my Significant Other, Fin, speaking of whom -

Most of the photographs here have been taken with a standard 50mm lens. However, I have a selection of lenses, including an 80-250 zoom, 135mm auto, 200mm auto, 300mm auto and 400mm preset telephoto lenses and a 28mm wide-angle lens. (All M42 fitting).
